These elegant and refined armoire doors come from Arles, France. They once graced a beautiful armoire that was made in the 1700’s. Their ornamentation on the three raised beveled panels, consists of linear C and S scrolls, and asymmetrical outlines to the panels. There is a central narrow panel that resides on the left door. An escutcheon surrounds a keyhole with the original working lock and key! Arles is located in the South of France and steeped in history. During the 1700’s, certain workshops began creating armoires, buffets, and other types of furniture with their own stylistic tendencies on established regional designs. Pairs of armoire doors like this can be retrofitted as headboards for a bed, as doors to hide a television, library doors, pantry doors, as a partial room divider, and many more options.
CONDITION: Good condition with age separations, minor nicks and scratches, traces of old wood worm damage.
