These two paintings signed, G. de Sanctis, have been painted on a canvas applied to hardboard/cardboard. They are both outdoor Parisian settings: one of a winter street scene and the other of a summer flower market scene. Both feature a variety of beautifully painted subjects, buildings, horses, people and bright flowers. His early years were spent painting in England, Paris and Italy. In Palermo, he won a Silver Medal for his painting of La Preghiera della sera a Bisanzio, which was purchased by King Umberto in 1886. His later years were spent painting French subjects. The paintings below are after originals by Victor Gabriel Gilbert (Flower Market) and Fausto Giusto (Street Scene). This pair of framed paintings will be the focal point of any area they are placed in.
CONDITION: Minor losses of glaze on the street scene painting. Identical frames have very minor old restoration to them.
