Antique Tapestry Fragment from Flanders, 1600s
From the 17th century comes this extremely old tapestry fragment from Flanders. The scene depicts a gentleman with outstretched arms approaching two women at the threshold of a classical building. The women are dressed to the period in long draped clothing, as is the gentleman in his costume with hat and knee high sandals. The front of their home has an open door with a column to the left having a capital of Palmettes. Two trees are in the forefront. This Flanders tapestry fragment has a double binding.
