Code 915-20 Pair of Large Painted 18th Century French Brackets
This regal pair of French painted wooden brackets dates to the 1700s. They are from Parois, near Fontainebleau. Elegant c-scroll acanthus leaves with central fleur de lys motifs are atop cartouches with central cabochons. Each cabochon has an incised letter. One is an E and the other is an N, most likely denoting a family name or name of the chateau. This pair of 18th century brackets can be used to display other fine objects or left on their own as an object of art.
CONDITION: Good Antique Condition; minor losses of paint, age separations, nicks, see photos.
