Antique French Repousse Copper Lavabo
This 19th Century French repousse copper lavabo has a coat of arms on the front of the upper storage tank where the water is held. A bronze spigot allowed the water to empty into the bottom basin by turning it to the right or left. The lower basin has repousse motifs of the Fleur de Lis with scrolling flowers to either side. The interior of the lower basin is as decorative as the outer portion due to the repousse being reversed in some areas. The basin rests upon a flanged repousse and incised base, and there are large and beautifully hand hammered copper handles are on either side. Today they can be hung on walls as a decorative container or for planters (dried flowers, etc).
*The stand in the main photos is not included. It is used only for photographic display.
