Code 911-14B Antique Silverleaf Louis Philippe Mirror, C.1900
This versatile antique Louis Philippe silver leaf mirror, circa 1900, can be used in almost any style of interior design due to its simplicity of lines and motif. Louis Philippe's reign (1830 to 1848) included industrialization in machine works, allowing cabinetmakers to produce some of their furniture by machine. Rounded forms and motifs were in abundance during his reign. This did not preclude hand carving in the high end pieces, however.
This silverleaf Louis Philippe style mirror has the characteristic half round molding in the center of the surround with rounded corners at the top. The innermost molding next to the mirror or glass is tiny, continuous beading.
This elegant and versatile antique French Louis Philippe mirror can be used anywhere in the home. Condition: Minor rub to lower right hand corner, age creases.
