This unusual antique beveled mirror with a shaped and indented surround has been ornamented with squares of oak bearing applied, aged and ornamented brass repousse knights, trophy friezes and helmeted warrior faces. The ornamentation at the top of the mirror has a central coat of arms featuring hippocampes surrounding a cartouche bearing a lyre. A female mask crowned with fleur de lis and c-scrolls rests atop this. There is a female head in aged brass repousse on the left of the trophy frieze and a male to the right. At the center left and right sides are French Knights. The bottom repeats the top ornamentation.
This unusual and very decorative French mirror dates to the early 1900s.
