This magnificent round dining room table was hand-carved in France, using thick salvaged oak boards with subtle undulations and distress. The large top contains a square central parquet section which includes pieces of ebonized wood. Parquetry is a technique of adorning wood items by creating a geometric mosaic with the wood pieces. Note how they parquetry section has an inset lozenge, or diamond, further embellishing the table top.
The large single baluster shaped base and the volute feet are in the French Renaissance style. S-scrolls adorn the sides of the feet and terminate into the volute portion. When a quality French wax is applied, the oak will obtain a nice patina, as seen in the photos here. This wonderful round table can seat 8 comfortably, depending on seat size.
CONDITION: Very good condition. Some age separations, undulations and rubs to wood.
