These beautifully hand- carved antique French doors are in the neo-gothic style. The front ornamentation is the same on both doors, which include crockets, cusps, lancets, "plis de serviette" or linen fold motifs and more. Even the back of the doors also feature "plis de serviettes" or linen fold panels.
Early neo-Gothic usually shows a close relation to English Gothic styles. At first, Neo-Gothic was strongly inspired by French and German Gothic examples, and by indigenous ones at a later stage. Furniture and objets-d'art equally were influenced by neo-Gothic ideas; artists taking their inspiration from 15th century flamboyant Gothic, created objects "à la cathédrale" or cathedral style. In the 19th century this movement had a powerful influence on the European and American arts. These magnificent doors will give any entrance a Gothic touch.
