This antique French painted trumeau mirror once graced a painted boiserie (wooden paneled room) in France. The glass was replaced at some point in its history. The hand carved wooden ornamentation in the panel above the mirror is that of a cluster of grapes surrounded by grape leaves. The simplicity of the mirror and the chipping of the old white paint belies the fact they were once in a more formal environment, though far from ostentatious.
CONDITION: Good Antique Condition; age separation to upper panel; minor losses to moldings and motifs; chipping to paint.
