These tall, antique French andirons have their uppermost portions crafted to hold cups or bowls of liquid which would then be heated by the fire. The hooks attached to the front of the andirons were for placement of horizontal iron bars. Pots with handles having hooks on them would be hung from these bars for cooking or roasting. Logs would be placed horizontally across the extended back legs of the andirons. Simple, hand hammered motifs are on the front and feet of the andirons.
CONDITION: Well worn, rust, pitting to iron. Ready for use.
