French scales of this type were used in stores for weighing produce. They consisted of a cast iron base with the weight mechanism at the top center. The arrow would have to be in the middle for the weight to be accurate. Two brass plates, one for the product and one for the weights were at either end of the scale. A scale like this can be used again today or simply placed as a unique French antique decorative accessory.
CONDITION: Very good condition with minor rubs and rust.
