Antique Cherrywood Console Table from Rennes France, Circa 1870
Beautiful 19th century table from area of Rennes, in Brittany, France. Two drawers on back side of table, fully carved apron with interlacing flowers, foliage, stems and shell motifs. The bottom of the apron is serpentine with scrolls meeting at the base of each plant and shell motif. All four legs and feet are shaped in the Louis XV style. The quality and design of this table leads us to give an attribution to master Rennes artisans, Jean Hollier or Charles Allory. This magnificent console table was once part of the Cordelier collection in France (see bottom photo).
CONDITION: Very good condition, with nice waxed patina, and some old restoration
