This wonderful antique, whitewashed, carousel horse is resting on a contemporary wooden pedestal support. It was found in Northern Spain, and based on its grain and weight, it is most likely Spanish Larchwood, also known as Meleze. This is one of the hardest and most durable types of coniferous softwoods. The horse has a few old metal supports that have been riveted to the wood, and of course a hole where carousel pole was. This fabulous hand carved wooden horse will be the focal point of any room, be it a children’s room or as sculptural piece of art in another room.
CONDITION: Age separations, losses to paint and some wood, minor abrasions. Horses balances on wooden stand.
