From France, this beautifully designed round mahogany table is in the French Empire Style. It has a grey and white veined marble top with grooved moldings at the periphery. Just beneath the stone, is an unadorned, burled mahogany veneer. The central column has a smooth inward curve at the upper portion with gadrooned bulb ornamentation beneath. At its base are vertically repetitive half-round moldings. From this base, three legs project with stylized dolphin form motifs. There are scrolls ending where its eyes would be, fins on the upper side for its back and a C-Scroll for its tail. All this terminates in lion’s paw feet on castors.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with minor chips to the top of the marble. Slight creases and nicks to veneer along exterior top. Age separations and some traces of old wormwood.
