From Italy, this elegant, painted 10 leg banquette has very graceful lines that would blend well with any design. It dates to the late 1700’s when designs in Italy were influenced by the returning classicism of French Louis XVI design. Painted in a pale green with gold highlights, it has been upholstered within the last 20 years. The sides have rolled, scrolling arms, which slant slightly towards the back (see photo). The carved motifs on the painted wood are floral and foliate with the front legs being round, tapered and fluted. The back legs are tapered and rectangular.
This wonderful Italian banquette from the end of the 18th century will be stunning anywhere it is placed.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with chipping to paint, wood and motifs. Repaired right leg and 2nd leg from left (see photos)
