This antique oak rectangular cabinet has an abundance of finely carved motifs. At only 19 1/2 inches high, it is a good size for resting on a table top or pedestal. There is a plain top over carved panels on both sides and the front. The interior of the panels has female and male figures surrounded by cherubs and floral and foliate motifs. The pilasters flanking either side of the opening have faces at their tops and cherubs beneath the fluting. The side panels have fluted panels surrounding the figurative center panels. The double paneled frontage opens to a cabinet with two openings on the top and a full width opening on the bottom. The base is a plain, stepped out molding. The style of this small trunk shaped cabinet leads us to believe it is of Southern German or Northern Italian origin. It can be placed on top of a surface or on the floor in any area of the home.
CONDITION: Good overall condition with some abrasions and age separations. Key pull does not operate lock. Used for opening/closing door
