Code 316-59 Painted Antique French Architectural Panel from the Early 1700's
This early 1700’s French architectural has been beautifully painted and gilded. There is a shaped outline with feathered acanthus leaves at the top and scrolling acanthus leaves at the sides. All this surrounds a red and white panel with a gold Fleur de Lys at its center. A helmeted bust in full relief is above the fleur de lys and beneath the feathered acanthus leaves. From the back, we can see that this piece was once attached to something else via 3 old vertical board marks. This wonderful architectural can be used as a piece of artwork on a wall, on a fireplace trumeau or over an important doorway.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Restorations, minor chips and losses, traces of old wood worm. Please inspect photos.
