Copper Parade Shield from France, 1900s
This stunning French copper parade shield is from the 1900’s. The minute details in some areas are absolutely wonderful. The more you look at this shield, the more you begin to see other details. The scene depicts a Roman or Grecian battle scene at the center. Surrounding this are more motifs continuing around the front of the entire shield.
Parade shields were very popular historically. These shields would be worn by soldiers in festive parades and their function was merely for display rather than protection.
CONDITION: Excellent condition. Minor rubs to border. Ready to hang.
