Code 316-53 1874 Carved Oak Base for an A.L. Barye Bronze
Antoine Louis Barye (September 24, 1796-June 25, 1875) was a famous animal bronzier born in Paris, France. Many of his works are found in museums all over the world. This wooden base would have been for one of his original bronzes. It has his initials, last name, and year the bronze was created in brass letters and numbers. It is expertly carved out of French oak.
