Code 316-30A 17th Century Tabernacle Mirror from Italy
This polychromed antique Italian tabernacle frontage is from the 1600’s. It has a 19th C. mirror which has been placed inside the frame flanked by two pilaster columns. There are old pieces of painted canvas above the mirrored area and two fluted columns with Corinthian capitals. The upper molding is stepped out to emphasize the columns and the base molding is stepped in. This is an absolutely beautiful piece of history from the 1600’s.
CONDITION: Paint and gilding is chipped commensurate with age of 1600’s; losses to some motifs, age separations, all commensurate with age of 1600’s; writing on top front and initials on the back, commensurate with age of 1600’s. Please see photos . H=33 1/8, Max Width=18, D=5 1/2
