Code 316-26 Beautiful 17th Century Forged Iron Stair Railing Fragment from France
This graceful hand forged iron stair railing fragment dates to the 1600’s. It is high quality ironwork and stands on it's original stone housing. There are some complete acanthus leaves in areas with fragments elsewhere, all very delicately made by hand. This piece was part of the newel "post" of a curved stone staircase in a 17th century French chateau. Today it is a very unique stand alone piece of art and will be the focal point of any room.
CONDITION: Good antique condition; rusting to iron and wear to stone commensurate with age of 1600’s.
