This long oak dining table was produced in the mid 1900’s in France. The 2 ¾ inch thick top is comprised of five joined beams that date to the 1700’s. The table is full of character, with tiny hand saw markings along the length of the top. There is also a slight bend at one of the corners, which is normal for wood of this age, as cells within the beams have shrunk and swelled due to changes in air temperature and humidity.

The top sits on two highly shaped trestle legs and an H-stretcher. The center of each leg has a pierced opening, and just below, is a square cutout for the thick cross stretcher, which is secured by large, flat pegs that run through a slot at each end of the stretcher. The top is affixed to the base by a series of iron bolts on the underside.

At over nine feet long, this charming French oak table would make a fantastic dining table. It comfortably seats eight people and would be a welcomed addition to any breakfast or dining room.

CONDITION: Good condition with wear commensurate to age and use with age separations and minor nicks and rubs. The tabletop has a slight bend and old fills are visible. The table was crafted in the mid-20th century, but the oak beams that comprise the top were repurposed from 18th century furniture. Minor old worm holes in areas.
