This blue and white vase from is from the famed majolica production town of Abisola, Savona, Italy. On one side, a figural scene is that of a Faun, a woman, and cherubs. Castles and mountains are in the background. The other side is similar; however, a man replaces the Faun. The top of the vase is scalloped with scrolling acanthus leaves. At either side are twisted vines for handles. Mascarons are beneath the handles, and a single mascaron adorns a lower section of the body of the vase. The indented pedestal base is ornamented with more scrolling acanthus leaves. It is signed on the bottom.
The Savona town of Albilosa made some of the best majolica in all of Europe in the 1600's. Period pieces are highly valued. The classic blue and white pottery is mostly what Savona was known for, and production has continued for hundreds of years. This more recent, mid 20th century bright white and blue vase is in very good condition, and it will be an attribute to any area it is placed.
