From Italy, this rich, hand carved writing table dates to the 18th century. The top is one single plank of walnut wood, and it has lyre scrolled trestle legs and turned wrought iron braces. Wooden stretchers have been placed between the upper portions of the legs for added strength. These types of tables are very similar to, and in fact, were inspired by tables being made in Spain. With the Italian counterparts, we usually see slightly more intricately carved legs, and large scrolling feet.
Today this small table can be used as a writing table, side table, or as a table between two chairs anywhere in the home.
CONDITION: Strong condition with some restorations including wood fill, age separations, losses to wood in areas, scratches.
