Code 214-1A Richly Sculpted Period Louis XV Bonnetiere-Lyonnais, 18th Century
French Bonnetieres were originally meant to hold women’s bonnets or hats, when bonnets were a constant in women’s fashion. Today, bonnetieres are used to store almost anything that needs to be hidden away in a beautiful cabinet. This antique bonnetiere has hand carved motifs typical of the Lyon region, from the Louis XV period. The wood type is French walnut with some beech as well. The motifs surround the two open field front panels. The corner panels are curved and the four feet are gently curved outward. This wonderful piece has been constructed from walnut wood and beech wood which is absolutely stunning.
This elegant Louis XV bonnetiere can be used in any room needing a fabulous storage cabinet for bathroom linen, a kitchen storage cabinet, or a bedroom cabinet for sweaters, shirts, or hats! It could also be retrofitted for refrigeration or for a wine storage unit. It currently has 3 shelves inside the piece.
CONDITION: Good condition, wear consistent with age and use. Old age separations and restorations, old restorations to back left foot, nicks and rubs to wood all commensurate with an 18th C. piece of furniture.
