Period French Gothic Andirons
These rare fabulous antique chenets or andirons are from the French Gothic Period, most likely late Gothic . Their headdress was called a barbette. The two people are holding a shield in front of their chests and their dress is of the period. The shield has remnants of motifs but they are not definable due to centuries of use in a fireplace.
French chenets or andirons of this period are very rare—they will be an asset to any home.
