This elegant white faience vase with bronze dolphin mounts was hand-painted in France in the 1800’s. The form is styled after the famed Medici vase, a five-foot-tall marble vessel sculpted in Athens in the 1st century. Both vases are bell-shaped (known as a krater), with small handles that extend from the flared neck. In the case of our vase, the bronze handles are dolphins with long, curled tails. The rim has also been embellished with bronze, with a surround that features a repeating foliate border. Three motifs adorn the bronze base, with a foliate ring above a concave gadrooned foot surrounded by a circle of husks. There are also roundel piercings above the leaves and a square plinth beneath the vase. A stylish statement piece, our white faience Medici form vase can be filled with fresh or dried flowers and placed on a mantel or any center or side table.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with minor scratches and fleabites to base. Buildup to interior with craquelure to the faience exterior. Please see photos for details.
