This stunning and elegant solid walnut wood buffet dates to the Louis XV period. From Nimes, this buffet has motifs specific to the cabinet makers of the region, in particular, the shaped apron. It has pierced rocaille acanthus leaves at the center and at either side. The thick rectangular top extends over the front and sides, while the frieze exhibits subtle asymmetry, so essential during the Louis XV period. The straight upper line of the linear molding has been subtlety interrupted by two notches. The out-turned legs have hand-carved acanthus leaves over oyster feet. The side panels are also asymmetrical.
This Louis XV period buffet from Nimes will be a wonderful addition to any home. One key opens both doors.
