From France, this copper poissonnière (fish poacher) has been beautifully decorated on both of its sides. One side has a hammered background beneath a fleur de lys. The other side has a coat of arms flanked by two winged dragons surmounted on another hammered backdrop. The forged iron handle extends the width of the poacher with a raised section at the middle for hanging in the fireplace. Prior to the 20th century, most cooking was done in fireplaces.
This copper fish poacher from the 1800’s can be used as a small jardinière for dried flowers or simply as a decorative accessory in the kitchen or any other room.
CONDITION: Very good condition with minor marks and surface buildup.
