From England, this warm and inviting four paneled leather screen is a continuous painted scene. It depicts a London stagecoach driving along a country rode. There are trees and a stone fence with acreage to the right. The stagecoach is being driven by two men and four horses. A tall hedge with a wooden gate is on the right panel with a gentleman sitting next to the road. The canvas on each portion of the screen is fixed to the wooden frame via brass studs, and the framework on the back side is painted black. The overall impression of the painting is very peaceful with the colors being warm and muted.
CONDITION: Restorations, cracks, shrinking to painted leather, craquelure, losses to paint in areas, all as seen in photos below.
