This large, colorful, majolica platter from Spain depicts a bust of a helmeted soldier with a quiver behind his shoulder. Surrounding this are large flourishes of scrolls, and a cartouche with bearded men on either side. There is another large set of C- scrolls with clawed feet at the end of two lower arms. It has been secured by an iron attachment having four clamps as shown on the photos. The bright colors are a yellow/gold ground with whites, medium blues, and royal blues on the motifs of the scene. The platter is marked on the inside rim. Approximate age is circa 1910.
