This painted French wall console is from the Napoleon III Period. The top is stepped out, conforming to an apron of linear beaded molding and single quatrefoils centered on each panel of the main apron. Beneath this are three sections featuring a Lion’s head with margent trailing beneath the open mouth. Two demi figures of young women are on the sides of the pedestal, all of which rests upon three stepped out bases. There are old touches of gold paint throughout the pedestal. Versatile in its uses, this painted French console can be used with something mounted upon it or alone with a decorative piece above it.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with age separations and minor losses to some motifs; wear to paint and wood commensurate with age and use.
