19th Century Renaissance Style Carved Walnut Wood Bench with Red Velvet
This rich and sculptural Renaissance style bench has magnificent hand carved motifs of scrolling rinceau, shields, grape clusters, rampant lions, cabochons, and magnificent lion’s head terminals. Its architectural ornamentation is in the four demi-figure pilasters. One pair of demi-figures upholds a stepped out frieze topped by a central cabochon. The cabochon is flanked by rampant lions, scrolling acanthus leaves and clusters of grapes cascading down to the frieze. The other pair of demi figures upholds the trunk seat which opens to storage. There is velvet upholstery attached with brass nailheads beneath the frieze and on the seat of the bench.
This antique French Renaissance style bench can be placed in numerous areas and will be the focal point of any room.
