Hand-carved in bas relief in Italy during the 1800’s, this marble plaque depicts a winged cherub. The roughly oval plaque has uneven edges, known as “chiseled cut”, which adds a little extra character to the plaque. The cherub is displayed in three-quarter view, resulting in the right side of the face being partially unseen. Further obscuring the cherub’s face are the pair of feathered wings that flank his head, partially crossing over the neck. Our small 19th century marble plaque of a winged cherub can be hung on the wall of any room in the house. It could also be presented on a table or mantle with the aid of a stand.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Wear commensurate to age and use, with fleabites and light buildup, resulting in a dotted patina. The plaque was signed by the artist, but the signature has become illegible now. A hole has been drilled near the top for hanging purposes.
