Produced in the 1800’s, this hand-carved and weathered marble urn sits on a circular plinth with molding. The lidded urn (stylized lid) is depicted as having a drapery covering. In antiquity, a fabric covering a vessel often symbolized the barrier between heaven and earth. The material is gathered in the back, allowing the front of the urn to be shown. A foliate swag runs diagonally across the face of the urn, presenting as a heraldic (dexter) bend. Our 19th century draped urn in weathered marble can be displayed indoors as an accessory or used as an outdoor architectural.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with light lichen and moss buildup. Weathering over the years has given the marble textured striations with a light gray patina.
