From 19th Century France, this large Louis XV style mirror has a wonderful parcel gilt, gesso, and paint finish with portions of the base wood showing through. At the top center of the mirror, is a large shell motif with a stylized Fleur De Lis above and scrolling rinceau to either side. This rests upon an interesting shape at the top of the mirror. At the sides of the bottom rail are pierced c-scrolls ornamented with more floral and foliate motifs.
This truly is a very elegant antique French mirror that can be hung on a wall, above a piece of furniture, or resting on the floor.
CONDITION: Minor age cracks, minor losses to motifs and gesso. Finish is not recent, but also not original to the piece.
