Original 1950s ink wash painting by a Russian artist Sergei Romanov (b.1914). The artist was born in Moscow, fought in WWII. He joined a Belarussian partisan group after escaping from German imprisonment and stayed in Belarus after the end of the war. He received the title of Honored Worker of Arts of Belarus and participated in the foundantion and design of the first Belarussian State Museum of WWII history.
The work is titled "Will Never Forget" and shows a young woman partisan planting explosives on railroad tracks. Masterful technique and historical subject matter! Signed in lower left corner "RS".
