Original antique oil on canvas painting by a famous American artist Charles Abel Corwin (1857-1938). Charles A. Corwin was the staff artist at the American Museum of Natural History, NY and at the Fields Museum in Chicago, where he painted the dioramas and murals for exhibitions of prehistoric animals. He has exhibited widely in the United States, received various art prizes, and was influential in establishing Artists' Association in Chicago. Widely respected and admired, he is known for his historic depictions of landscapes and animals.
This is a wonderful work showing a Native American warrior in war paint on a horse in a wild western landscape. Wonderfully detailed historic piece! Signed in lower right "Charles A. Corwin 1896". Comes in an elegant wooden frame.
