Original oil on masonite board painting by an American modernist artist Hyde Solomon (1911-1981).
Hyde Solomon is a well known Abstract Expressionist, he studied at Pratt Institute and Columbia University, exhibited widely in the United States, his works are in major museum collections, such as the Whitney Museum of American Art.
The work is a colorful abstraction titled "Bird in a Gilded Cage". Hyde Solomon was known for his use of color, and the painting exhibits the masterly combination of contrasting hues that together with the lively jagged forms create a dynamic whole. Wonderful modern work! Signed in upper left corner "SOLOMON - '56", titled and signed on back.
