Axel Farham was an artist and a craftsman working in Massachusetts, he was the father and teacher of a famous American artist Martha Farham Cahoon, and also the teacher of artist Ralph Cahoon. The work is a still life with vegetables, utensils and a dead hare, painted in subdued earthy colors with deep shadows and flickering sports of light.
