Vintage wonderful miniature three drawer doll size chest or bureau. Although it appears the wood is painted, I think it may be marquetry or a patterned paper or decal finish. Even under a loupe, I can not find enough wear or loss to the finish to determine if it is paper or decal. It looks like painted wood. It does have wear with scuffs from use - see the top. The repeating square block pattern is in green and brown with a center diamond arrow pattern. Not as easily seen is a secondary repeating marquetry pattern in the wood surface within the blocks. The detail work is on the drawer fronts and the top and sides of the chest. The back and bottom of the chest are undecorated. There is a plain skirt around the base. The camera picked up a very faint Japan stamp on the base as shown. It is very well made with working drawers. The little round green drawer knobs or pulls are glued on. The drawer bottoms and sides are of a lighter weight wood, the jointed fitted but glued with no nails. There is a faint crack in the wood at the back of one of the drawers visible in one of the images. I believe this is circa 1930's.
