AESTHETIC BLUE TRANSFERWARE CHEESE STAND OR CAKE STAND

BAMBOO PATTERN

John Meir and Sons Potteries

Tunstall, Staffordshire England

c. 1885

This Victorian aesthetic raised 9 1/2 " wide x 2 1/8 " tall cheese stand is transfer printed in luscious blue. The crisp BAMBOO pattern features a very exotic and geometric border with stalks of bamboo running through the well of the pattern. Cartouches of a waterwheel village and outrageous flowers and a butterfly perched on the water complete the busy exotic scene. The pattern displays the victorian eras love of nature and travel to exotic lands.
