AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE LARGE CHARGER
FLOWERS PATTERN
Clairefontaine
Faience France
c. 1870
This large Victorian aesthetic 11 " wide x 1 1/4 " tall charger is transfer printed in dark chocolate brown. The charger shape, a much large plate, was produced for displaying food much like a serving bowl.
The pattern features A large Bullfinch perched on a flowering branch of Wisteria eyeing a couple of bugs for lunch. The Wisteria is so vibrant that you can almost smell its sweet fragrance. Two other winged bugs flit over a bed of Daisies and wild Grasses. Delicious!! A rare aesthetic find for the collector.
The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Clairefontaine, a pottery maker working in the France during the 19th century. The piece was made for the American or English market.
A great hard to find piece in such a good form and in the rich brown color and in EXCELLENT condition. Please take a look at the other pieces of Victorian Staffordshire / Aesthetic ceramics we have currently listed. Save significantly on shipping costs with multiple purchases.
