COBALT BLUE MULBERRY TRANSFERWARE PLATE
Brown Westhead and Moore Potteries then Cauldon
This early rare Victorian 9 1/8 " plate is transfer printed in dark cobalt mulberry blue. In the MADEIRA pattern, the printed transfer features a complete transfer of Peach leaves, twigs, flowers and a bounty of ripe fruit. Wow!
The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Brown Westhead and Moore, a pottery maker working in Hanley in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
The piece is in great condition, clean bright and shiny. No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor utensil marks. It is absolutely gorgeous - elegant and well potted, with richly detailed transfers reflecting the Victorian love of nature.
