6 ~ AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATES
DAFFODIL PATTERN
W. H. Grindley and Co. Potteries
Tunstall, Staffordshire England
c. 1882
These eight Victorian 8 3/4 " plates are transfer printed in dark chocolate brown.
The pattern features impressed flower swag finger tabs along the rim and repeating vignettes of luscious Daffodils. Oversized daffodils grace the well of the cake plate with a landscape scene of a young boy watching a sailing vessel rounding a castle.
The pieces are marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Grindley, a pottery maker working in Tunstall in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
Never Used. The plates are in great condition
