This color sample charger plate measures 11.75 inches in diameter. It represents a selection of colors sold in kiln fired enamel paints that were made for tablewares production by Royal Doulton. The plate is printed with a color spectrum of 35 colors to demonstrate the use of colors and range when applied to Doultons’ porcelain.
Royal Doulton is an iconic ceramics company from London and the Staffordshire region England. The company was bought by a foreign concern at the turn of this century, and much of its production work has been moved to Indonesia in 2006. The company continues to be well respected and its wares continue to be sold world wide.
This plate was made in Indonesia, and represents a color range in products being made there. The plate is part social, art and industrial history and part an element of interior design. The scale of this plate makes it especially interesting for use in design of an art space.
Test/Color Sample Plates were made market the range of available colors, to support sales for the company and to provide a guide for designers who are plannng projects in advance of seasonal productions and to show colors to customers. They were displayed in a store or showroom and used as a color wheel like a catalog, carried by tableswares salesmen. These plates were not available to buy.
The plate is in great condition with no chips cracks fades or repairs. A unique, uncommon art piece to inspire the designer, decorator, artist, potter or anyone with a creative flair.
