AESTHETIC MOVEMENT BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATTER
RARE CANTERBURY PATTERN
James Beech, Swan Bank Works Pottery
Tunstall, Staffordshire England ~ c. 1883
This large Victorian aesthetic 14 ” long x 11 1/4 " wide platter is transfer printed in very dark brown and gold luster highlights.
The pattern features fabulous geometric designs along the rim. The center of the platter is very busy with a honeycomb of wildly exotic flowers and whimsies. One cartouche of tropical flowers and another of a majestic landscape. By far, one of the best and rarest aesthetic pattern.
Great unused condition.
