Genuine Victorian Transfer Printed
POTTED FISH PASTE POT
Shields St.Annes on the Sea England c. 1895
This is a wonderful English Victorian pot that once held potted fish. Cooked and reduced to a concentrate, made of heaven knows what type of fish. Preservation was a must before refrigeration, these pots were popular as they were able to preserve their foods for consumption at any time of the year and these fish pots fit the bill, a bit of wax and cover on top.
The piece is in great condition. 1 1/2 " tall x 3 1/2 " wide. One of the best we have seen. The piece will make a great addition to any collection of transfer printed advertising wares. Small chip to the underside of the base.
