SIX Flow Blue Polychrome Demitasse Cup and Saucer Sets

These colorful Victorian aesthetic transferware demitasse or miniature cup and saucer sets are transfer printed in brilliant cobalt flow blue with hand painting under glaze in iron red and orange. Decorated in the KIOTO pattern featuring a wide banded rim of cranes egrets and herons and flowers with a basket weave inner rim and geometrics whimsies. The center of the saucer features another bird surrounded by a chain of flowers. The set shows the Japanesque influence of the mid -Victorian era. The cups stands 2-1/4 inches tall and the saucers measures 5” in diameter.
The set was made by Bates Gildea and Walker (late Mayers) in the Staffordshire pottery region of England in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. The set is in great condition with no chips cracks or repairs. These versatile little antique cups and saucers would be perfect for morning espresso.
